A Glowing Testomonial :: Horses & People March 2004
The following letter and pictures would have to be one of the most
descriptive testimonials to a job well done you could wish for,
and also a good advertisement for finding a tradesman who specialises
in his field and does an expert job.
Todd Cunningham of Equestrian Land Developments specialises totally
in designing and building equestrian arena’s which are built
to last and withstand the ravages of nature.
Catherine Alati teaches on her arena and can’t afford for
it to be unusable for days while it slowly drains. Being also a
committed competitor, neither can she afford to have her horses
standing around losing training time.
However, she lives in an area which is flood prone and while water
doesn’t rush through her property, it does sit for days at
a time. Todd built her arena to be above the usual levels of flooding
and only in the worst flooding does the arena go under water. When
the water recedes, the surface stays in place and the carefully
designed drainage system makes sure the water drains quickly from
the arena. Catherine says that her young horses and visiting students
horses have an excellent opportunity to learn how to go through
water to get to an arena and yet can work at all three paces without
a slippery base underneath their feet, despite water all around
them
Dear Todd,
I just want to congratulate you and ELD on my all weather arena.
It has been a year now and the arena you built me has been worth
every cent. Through drought, winds and floods the arena has stood
up beyond expectations. The week after you built it we received
a lot of rain. No Problems, I could ride on it regardless. A year
later it has been flooded 3 times. Once totally submerged for 2
days under a foot of creek water (see below). After the water drained
off the next day I was back riding on it again. My young horse never
slips and both he and I have confidence to stay as one in any hair
raising moment! As an instructor I have total confidence teaching
even the “greenest” of combinations. Well done ELD.

PS: The first picture is a week after you put the arena down. The
second picture is February 2004 Downpour which left us flooded for
days.
